ServerSpotter is an independent comparison platform for VPS, dedicated servers, managed cloud, and the 750+ infrastructure tools that sit alongside them. We exist so developers and ops teams can find the right host in minutes — not after twelve browser tabs and a sales call.
Why we built this
Hosting decisions used to be simple — pick a VPS, deploy, done. Today the choice spans VPS, dedicated, bare metal, managed Kubernetes, edge runtimes, regional clouds, and a dozen specialty providers. Every vendor publishes pricing that looks competitive in isolation and confusing in aggregate. Review sites are pay-to-play. Reddit threads rot. We were sick of bookmarking comparison tabs, so we built the comparison tab.
ServerSpotter pulls real specs, transparent pricing, and verified community ratings into one place. You can filter by region, RAM, price-per-core, control plane, or anything else that matters to your workload — and you can compare any two providers side-by-side without reading a single 2,000-word sponsored review.
Editorial independence
We earn revenue through affiliate commissions, vendor SaaS upgrades, and ServerSpotter Pro subscriptions. None of these influence our rankings. Here's the policy in plain language:
- Rankings on /best, /free, /alternatives, and category pages are sorted by community rating and review count — never by commission rate.
- Sponsored placements (newsletter slots, featured-homepage promotions) are clearly labeled and never sit inside ranked lists.
- Affiliate links carry the same destination URL as a regular click — we don't add price markups, and they don't change which providers we recommend.
- Vendors can claim their listing to improve accuracy, but cannot remove negative reviews or alter our methodology.
Where our data comes from
Three sources, in roughly equal weight:
- Community ratings & reviews. Verified signups leave reviews after using a provider. We display the full count, the distribution, and the most-helpful entries — not just the average.
- Scraped & vendor-confirmed specs. Plans, pricing, regions, and feature flags are pulled directly from provider sites and cross-checked against vendor-claimed listings.
- Independent benchmarks. Where we run our own tests (CPU, disk IO, network latency from major regions), the methodology is documented and every result links to a raw report.
